Welcome to the Everglades!

Long considered to be one the best trails into the Everglades, the Turner River is an excellent introduction to the wilds of Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park. The river winds its way through a variety of habitats, from the fresh water of the cypress swamp, through sawgrass prairies and saltwater mangrove forests to Chokoloskee Bay. Mangrove tunnels along with quiet, sheltered lakes and numerous side streams wait to be discovered.

Experience the pristine wilderness of the Everglades with an adventure along the Turner River. Canoeing and kayaking is exciting and fun, even for a novice paddler. Escape into a wilderness filled with wildlife and excitement, gliding silently along and coming upon a sunning alligator, a flock of ibis or watching an eagle soar above you. Bird watchers will see a wide variety including osprey, red tailed hawks, egrets and herons, pelicans, and possibly, bald eagle. Alligator, manatee and dolphin have all been seen along the river. Look closely into the mangroves and you'll glimpse shell mounds created by the Calusa Indians hundreds of years ago.

We invite you to explore on your own or on a narrated, scenic tour of the Everglades. You'll travel with knowledgeable guides and share the majestic beauty of this truly remarkable place.
